2014-2015 Programs

Unless otherwise noted, all programs are open to the public and begin at 1:30 PM at the Topsham Public Library (25 Foreside Road).  The public is welcome to join members beforehand at 12:00 noon at the bring-your-own lunch and business meeting.  Desserts and coffee are provided by the Club.

Details of off-site programs, including arrangements for car pooling, will be announced closer to the program date.

2014 Programs

April 9 – Annual Meeting & Pot Luck Lunch  (no guest speaker)

May 14 - "Gardens, Birds, and Other Wildlife" with photo-journalist Robin Robinson.  Click here for flyer.

June 11 - "Gardening in Tune with Nature: the little things that run the world," a presentation focused on the role of insects in the garden ecosystem with Reeser Manley & Marjorie Peronto, co-authors of "The New England Gardener's Year: A Month-by-Month Guide for Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Upstate New York"  Click here for flyer.

July 9 - Field trip to North Creek Farm in Phippsburg, ME, owned by gardener and author, Suzy Verrier.  Click here for flyer and additional information.

August 13 - Members-only picnic on Orr’s Island. Click here for flyer. (Cancelled due to rain.)

September 10 - Angela Twichell, Executive Director of the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust, landowners of Crystal Spring Farm and the Tom Settlemire Community Garden. Click here for flyer.

October 8 - Presentation by Jim Masse, Nursery Manager at Estabrook's, on "Local Color, Using Native Plants in the Landscape" and on protecting gardens from the winter cold. 

November 12 - Barbara Longstaff, GCFM Horticulture Chairman and BeeGAP Project Coordinator, on bringing native Mason Bees to our gardens, a joint project of the National Garden Clubs and Crown Bees. 

December 10 - Members-only Christmas Pot-luck Party and Auction


2015 Programs

January 14 - Meeting cancelled.

February 11 - Rex Beisel & Craig Cote from Barred Owl Daylilies in Otisfield, Maine, growers of 1100 registered cultivars.

March 11 -  Derek Lovitch from Freeport Wild Bird Supply, on "Introduction to Backyard Birdfeeding."  Click here for more information.


April 8 - "Quiche and Salad" Celebratory Pot-Luck Luncheon, followed by Annual Meeting and Installation of Officers

May 6 - Kyle Rosenberg from Forest to Shore Tree and Landscape Services on "Pruning Techniques."  Click here for more information.
